Early Saturday morning I set out with some other women to go Geocaching.
Perry was going to go too, but Abby got sick, so he stayed home with her. So, Girl Power all the way! We got to our destination as the sun was rising in the sky and started our journey.

We picked up a few caches along this trail on our way to the one we had our eye on. Snow was deep, the path was narrow, but the caching must go on.
Finally we reached the area that we needed to be to head to the cache we were seeking out.

A frozen swamp filled with cattails. See that clump of woods ahead? That's where we're headed. About a quarter mile through the cattails. Not all of the ground is frozen. It was up to us to find out where the safe steps were. We trudged forward slowly, and our lead cacher kept us informed of how close we were getting to ground zero.
Finally we reach our destination where I happen to have my first fall. Right in to a pile of yellow snow! Nice.
Meanwhile one of the women is waving the found cache at the rest of us. All that way, a fall in yellow snow, and she has it already? Arrgh. Oh well, after all that, it was a relief that we didn't have to search it out too long. We signed the log to show that we had indeed found it and realized that we had to go back at some point. A picnic lunch would have been nice after all that!
We had a few more caches on our list to find in the area. Better start moving.

Waaaay across the swamp to those trees! Ahhhhh! This is tough work! Our fearless leader starts out again, only on a different path, which was no path at all. Our way in was on a deer trail. She is a little ways ahead of us when suddenly we see she is down. Then the awful stench of swamp rot permeates our noses. She hit open water and went in up to her knees. HA! Don't listen to us when we say use your stick to test the ground before you step. So she backtracks and we head on to the other side of the swamp. We eventually get to the woods, but see that the cache is through these trees, across a huge, knee deep with snow, field. Trudge, trudge, trudge. I'm dying. Finally we make it there. We search and search and search for the cache, but we cannot come up with it. Then one of us decides to read up on the cache and finds out that it is not winter friendly. What!? That means that it is on the ground and if there is a ton of snow then it will be hard to find. Well there is a ton of snow, so we start to dig like dogs looking for the darn thing. Of course we can't find it, so we call it and decide to move on. Waaaaay across that huge, knee deep with snow field. I am sooooo ready to die. But this is not my ideal way to die, so I press on. It was a tough walk but 3 hours later since we started at sunrise, we were out and my vehicle never looked better. I collapsed in the parking lot (because I wanted to) and enjoyed the rest.
We moved on and ended up finding 20 caches that day.
Just got a call from school that Phoebe is sick. Need to go pick her up. Was waiting for this since Abby was sick Friday and Saturday. I'm feeling kind of queasy myself. Blah.
