A Walk Down Memory Lane

Join in for A Walk Down Memory Lane over at Erica's

This photo of Phoebe brings us back to September 2003. She was 16 months old and had no interest in walking at all. Which made her an easy baby to deal with. She did not get in to anything because she couldn't get anywhere unless I put her in front of it.

And while we're walking, I want to take the time this Veteran's Day to thank my Navy boy, and all other men and women in the service for their time and sacrifice for our country. God bless you.

The teacher

Abby goes to the same preschool that Phoebe went to. Today Phoebe did not have school, so she got to go to school with Abby and read the story to the children, and then come back at the end of the morning and teach them their Weekly Reader.
She loved it, and now wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

Abby taking direction from her big sister. Then the teacher had Phoebe file the Weekly Readers into their cubbies. She said that was the best! Abigail thought it was pretty special that her sister helped at school today.

and now those two are fighting and they have no need for each other

A Walk Down Memory Lane

Come for a walk with me to the past. Today's past brings us to November 2004. Phoebe was 2 and a half and Abby was 2 months. For some reason they didn't want to celebrate Thanksgiving as a Native American and a pilgrim. What a mean mom I was, for taking their picture when they obviously did not want it taken.

These Boots are made for Walking

The girls and I did a little shoe shopping today.

Phoebe needed a nicer pair of dress shoes so we found a pair at Kohl's.
Then we hit the mall, which just so happened to be at the best time in Green Bay Packer country.
We went when the Packers were playing the Vikings. Big rivalry and even bigger today since Brett Favre left the Packers and is now playing for the Vikings. So most of the state was watching the game which made for a quiet mall. OK on to the shoes.

After a pretzel and some sniffs at Yankee Candle, we found us at Stride Rite. The girls begged for some boots, and since they were on sale plus I had an extra 20% off, I still stalled in buying them. The girls tried them on, looked pretty cute and begged some more, so I finally said OK.

I won't mention that Abby decided to walk out of the store when I was paying for these and decided to go lie on the couch that was just outside the door. The worst 30 seconds of my life when I noticed she was gone, until she popped up from the couch. I think she now gets it how dangerous and frightening that was.

Phoebe's boots
Abby's boots
I found some cute shoes for me too, but I didn't want to pay $79 for them. I'm keeping my eyes peeled.

Shredded Weight

Lose up to 20 pounds in 30 days! OK Sign me up. I'm in and ready to go. I didn't even want to lose 20 pounds. I would have been happy with 5. So I've shredded, and with that came pain. But I stuck to it, because I didn't want to disappoint Jillian, because she gets RESULTS. I wanted some results.

I warmed up by pretending I was a greaser, I slicked my hair back and patted myself on the bottom. I did jumping jacks because her 400# people could do them. I did enough squats and ab crunches that my 6 pack should be on it's way to a full case. I did not quit. I'm still shredding.

And what are my results so far?

I gained 3 pounds.
Oh yeah. I gained!
Jillian.... your video says I can lose!!!! Not me. I gained.

3 pounds does not seem like a lot, but I can lose weight by not exercising, so why am I keeping this up?

Because my clothes do fit a lot better.
I feel tighter.
The muffin top that was getting to be a bigger muffin has shrunk.
The rolls that were starting under and over my bra are gone.
The pooch under the stomach is gone.

I'm not thrilled with the weight gain even though I know that muscle weighs more than fat, but I'm seeing results, and I'll let Jillian still be my friend. And her two best buds, Anita and Natalie can be my two best buds too.

Keep on Shredding!

Last of the snail mail

Another contest win goody box came my way today. This one was a name that photo contest over at Joel's Journey. Cindy is a busy mom raising 12 children while missing her son Joel who died of a horrible cancer almost 3 years ago at the age of 3.

She sure packed this box up. I was shocked at all the loot.

from left to right: Thanksgiving cookie cutters, jar of leaf sprinkles for the cookies I will bake.
2 wooden Thanksgiving dolls to color. An Indian and a Pilgrim girl. ( the girls are coloring them now)
2 Joels Journey And The Sanctity Of Life videos. This video was the 2007 winner Best Biblical Family film at the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival
1 video of Gardening Workshop for Beginners that they also filmed. I want a bigger garden next spring and I am a beginner. My brown thumb should turn a shade of green after watching this.
A lovely shade of burnt orange nail polish. Perfect for the fall season.
2 wooden (rectangle) pumpkins. so cute!
and behind the pumpkins is a neat metal acorn
and on the back of the couch is an awesome metal hanging decoration that reads F A L L

Very exciting past couple of weeks I've had receiving these wonderful gifts from my bloggy friends. I may never meet them this side of heaven, but I will catch up to them in heaven and give them the proper hugs.

All of you are so special to me.
