Why can't I talk to a human?

We are in the process of changing our phone service. Last night we canceled one of our phone lines. Monday the other line will be canceled. The phone company thought otherwise. Both our lines have been canceled as of this morning. I used my cell phone to call the phone company to let them know that we need one of our lines back. I get the recorded guy telling me that he sees that I am calling from my cell number and is that right? If he sees that I am calling from my cell number then why is he asking me if this is right? Wait, let's back up. That's the second time I called. The first time I called I forgot that this was going to be one of those calls that I needed to talk for my options. I thought I was going to have to press buttons, so when he was talking to me, I interrupted and told the recording that I didn't give a $*!t. Somehow he understood that and connected me to another option. None of the options fit what I needed, and pressing 0 to talk to a human operator didn't work. I called back and this time listened carefully on how to get to a human but nothing worked. Some lady came on and told me to call 611 and then told me goodbye. 611 didn't work either. No human in earshot. I guess I didn't want to talk to India anyway. Don't real people work at phone companies anymore? I think the only two people who have jobs at the phone company are the guy and lady who did the recordings. Or they had a job. They did their recordings and then were let go.
Anyway, if you call, it's not that I don't want to talk to you, it's Mr. and Miss recorded phone company that won't allow me to talk to you. Gotta love technology! (insert eye roll here)
